Feature Request: Sharepoint Modified By field

Post by MuenchF »

Hello,

i have a Sharepoint feature request.
We have a big Microsoft Sharepoint farm.
Modified By field of restored documents is updated with the account performing restore and all Versions of Files are updated with the account performing restore.
It's a known Veeam Issue: https://www.veeam.com/veeam_backup_9_5_ ... tes_rn.pdf

Is it possible to change this with an update in the future? In the Sharepoint Backup, all the metadata fields (created by, modified by, created date, modified date) are right, but not after the restore.

Thanks a lot,
Florian

Hi Florian, we've already thought about the ways to change this behavior, but currently this is the way that it is. Those fields are changed automatically by the library on the target SharePoint server, not by Veeam B&R itself. Anyway, thanks for the request.

hi
i am having the same issue in our SharePoint farm. the issue is that we stopped using our previous SharePoint platform backup tool, DocAve and started using Veeam. the feedback from our SP colleagues was good, except this modified by field change which has masive impact from the legal point of view.
can anyone confirm that it's being looked at and it's planned to be fixed in the next update?

thanks
Adrian

Same request here. Customer of us want a full sharepoint restore without losing some meta-data. Indeed the "modification", "owner" .. fields are important (crucial) to maintain after a restore.

Thus extra vote for this feature request ;-)

Many thanks
Christof
