When looking at a vCD backup today, all we see is a bunch of vApps and their vms. It would be very useful if the same view could also show organizations and vDCs. VBR already has that information since restoring a vApp defaults to restoring it into the same organization it was backed up from. We back up thousands of organizations, which do not have a dedicated job for each one, so it is often a hassle to find the correct vApp to restore from. Sometimes the name is no longer known, sometimes the name is too generic. In any case it should be easily implemented since the information is already there. My current workaround is to dump the whole vCD structure to a text file and then search that file to learn where vApps and vms belong. I takes quite some time to fetch this data so I have scheduled a script to do it each night. It works but is a real kludge.
If the above is implemented, the next natural step should be to be able to restore a whole organization. If an organization has been deleted and must be restored, today someone on the VMware side has to create the organization and its vDCs again, before we can restore vApps into it. It would be useful if that whole structure could be recreated automatically (with optional changes to name, etc) from the restore wizard.

Re: Feature request: Show organizations and vDCs in vCD backups
I would support such request.
When looking at Self-Service in EM, there is room for improvement for single organizations as well when it comes to identifying objects.
