Feature Request: Storage Tiering for on premise storage

Post by Moelli73 »

Hi,

we like to use storage tiering with on premise storage repositories. We have a super fast ssd array for fast backups and fast short time restores and we like to move old backup files to a slower cheaper repositorie.

Best regards

Think this is already directly possible. But if not using this feature, then there are other ways to do it with job definitions.

Currently you can move backups that age out from the defined time window only to Azure Blob, AWS S3 or S3 compatible storage systems.

In your case you might want to use backup copy job to periodically copy primary backups to slower storage for long-term restore purpose.

Thanks!

Hi Stefan, can you turn these slower repositories into the object storage? There are many commercial and free (open source) solutions for that. Thanks!
