Feature request

Post by namiko78 »

Could you please pass on that it would be nice if the feature “storage level corruption guard” had some kind of resume option, or a way to run it during certain windows only, or when the job is "idle" I have a large job that has been running for 28 hrs now doing the health check, it’s at 92% done, but I’ve missed my backups last night as a result.

I know I could split it up into smaller jobs, but an enhancement of the feature would also solve my problem.

Thank you

Resume is not an option, since the files could already be modified since the process was paused, for example. So the entire task should be performed between the job cycles (that's why it is not interrupted by the backup job scheduled run).

But not all the files will be modified, every night. If you have active full's it doesn't even seem to modify the big VBK. (no merge) Just an idea. I can / will work around it.

Foggy, what is our recommendation as far as ensuring timely completion?

Smaller job set?

Is there any other suggestion to increase processing speeds?

I switched the repository to per-vm as well, in case that helps.

Depends on the backup method/retention/health check schedule.

Right, smaller job set, per-VM backup chain (though there will be no parallel health checks for different VMs though, some effect will come from less fragmented backup file) as well as faster disks are the main recommendations. CPU/RAM requirements are also important.
