Feature Request: VEEAM B&R Internet Proxy Wizard
Dear all
I want to ask you kindly if it's possible to build a wizard in the new Veeam B&R version where users with an internet proxy can fill in the credentials to use the WAN Accelerator in Veeam cloud connect.
At the moment they have to create additional gateway rules..
Best regards
Ennio

Re: Feature Request: VEEAM B&R Internet Proxy Wizard
As I understand the request is like in a web broswer, to be able to insert a proxy url+credentials to the wan accelerator can traverse the proxy as a web browser.
Even if available, I'm thinking the proxy usually manages http/https protocols, while WAN accelerator uses its own (block based) protocol. not sure it would work unless the proxy is also enabled for socks, but at this point I don't see a large difference between a proxy rule and a regular firewall rule for an egress connection, since by the way the traffic is already optimized, so I don't see how a proxy could enhance the connection with its caching.
In my view a proxy is usually meant for users and web caching, not for services.

Dear Luca
Thank you for your detailed answer.
For example:
the internet proxy is configured e.g in the internet explorer.
If I using veeam cloud connect, how I can create a connection to www even with WAN? We would appreciate a possibility in the software to fill in the proxy details.

It's what I'm saying, Cloud Connect uses SSL but it's NOT a web connection, it's a TCP connection with its own protocol. So a web proxy in between is useless for Cloud Connect.
