But can't you just download a file and then copy it to whatever location you want to? Thanks.

It's a matter of 1 step vs. 2 step process I guess.

Yes it is possible to download, unzip etc..
We have several 250GB+ files to restore or database files.
It's just a feature request because sevferal of our customers asked for it.

It's also one important point of my personal feature request list to get a restore to different location (also on the original machine or on a completely different machine).
Additionally to the problem of extra effort (download + unzip + copy it to the other location) you have allocate on the Enterprise server extra space to do the zipping.
If someone wants to download a lot of data and you haven't the space for the temporary zipping then it won't work.
Furthermore you have additional network traffic, if you have a dedicated EM server or a target system, which has no possibility to open a browser (e.g. Linux without GUI^^). A "restore to different" could go directly from mount server to the target.

Got it. We're planning to invest into enhancing EM restore capabilities in the short term, so we will be sure to include these enhancements as well. Thanks!

Re: Feature Request - VEEAM Enterprise Portal Selfrestore
Dear Support,
we absolutely need this feature. Meaning:
File restores on the same location is scary, even Folder renaming. And sometimes we just dont want the data in the same folder location. Reason is that Data in that original folder might be ingested or immediately used by an application, which is not cool for restored files.
Accidental deletion or data corruption are not the only reason for restores. there is also data analysis and testing to give two reasons. And sureback is to big for a simple file restore.
download is not an option for us. File are TB size plus the 1-2-3 step solution is nothing i want to see in an enterprise solution.

Will this option ever be implemented in VEM?
