Feature Request Version 7 patch 3
I have just discovered that bandwidth throttling is not applied to a file copy job. I was attempting to seed a backup copy with a cloud storage provider, whom now supports Veeam, and could not due to the size of the VM (1.02TB) and the lack of a larger internet pipe (currently 10mbps). I was able to increase the connection with the provider to 40 mbps and attempt the copy job again to no avail. So, I decided to set the Veeam bandwidth throttling to 28mbps as to not saturate the pipe causing a disconnect and try again. This did not work and the connection was lost due to over saturation. This was how I found that throttling does not apply to file copy jobs. I have also attempted a windows file copy from my Veeam server to the remote repository which failed for the same reasons. I have made some TCP and VPN config mods to hopefully help and am attempting the file copy job again. If not, I will have to physically send the copy to the cloud provider and seed it manually. I would like to request that Veeam make throttling available to file copy jobs as well. Thanks

Hello Jamie,
Have you considered using backup copy jobs with WAN accelerators configured? This setup will allow you to resume your jobs on disconnects and transfer VM data efficiently over the configured connection.
Thank you!

I am seconding this feature request. We don't have the "Enterprise Plus" version and don't really need WAN acceleration but would like the file copy jobs to heed the throttling rules we have in place for our replications.

Agreed, the throttling should be applied to "copy jobs". I always assumed it was, is Veeam confirming that this is not the case?
Thanks,
Thanks,

Christian, throttling rules are applied to VM copy jobs.

I also believe that throttling rules should take effect in case where file copy job destination is located on a server managed by Veeam B&R, since in this case Veeam data movers are installed on both sides.

Yes, I am actually surprised to see throttling reported not to work for File Copy jobs. Our data movers process data on block level, and don't even know (or care) what type of job they are serving.
