File Copy Job and Global Network Traffic Rules

Post by mae2 »

Hello,
we have Veeam Backup & Replication Version is 8.0.0.2029.
Now i have create a File Copy Job with large files to copy. That this file copy job not close the network i have activated Global Network Traffic Rules for the ip adresses from source and destinaion.
When i start the job, no Global Network Traffic Rules will not activated, the job takes all bandwidth which he can take.
Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for answers

Hello Mathias,
Could you provide the setting you set and statistical info about the bandwidth usage?
Have you enabled multiple stream usage?
Thanks!

Hi mae2,

Could you please tell me if you see a "Network traffic throttling is enabled" string when your job is being executed?

Thank you.

I also wonder about the source and destination used by that job. Keep in mind that traffic throttling is applied between two Veeam data movers only, so behavior is expected in case of CIFS target, for example.

Hello,
here my settings.
The VEEAM Backup Replication Server has the IP: IP: x.x.x.42
The source is a VEEAM Proxy Server with with the Secondary Repository (IP: x.x.x.49)
The destination is a VEEAM Proxy Server with the Tertiary Repository (IP: x.x.x.47)
And here the Network Traffic Rule:
Source IP adress range: "x.x.x.49" to "x.x.x.49"
Target IP adress range: "x.x.x.47" to "x.x.x.47"
Throttle network traffic is activated
Throttle to: 5 MB/s
Use multiple upload streas per job: 5
Following bandwidth we have at disposal for Tertiary Repository: 100MBit/s.
When i activate the job, no message is show me that the "Network traffic throttling is enabled"

mae2,

Image
When i activate the job, no message is show me that the "Network traffic throttling is enabled"
Which means that thottling rule is not applied to your job for some reason.

I suggest you to double check your IP-addresses range as well as throttling time period.

P.S. Both of your proxies serve as repos, right?

Please let me know if that helps.

Hello PTide,
Now ist works. I have delete all Network Traffic Rules (also another rules).
Then i create one rule for the copy job and i test it >> ok it works
After the test i create the another rules wich i have deleted and test the copy job >> ok, it works
i dont know why, but now it works

Yes both Server are repositories.

Thank for the help and the advices
