File level reatore from older backup.

Post by alecprior »

I've got a "how to" question.

We have our main file server backed up by veeam every night, with a three day retention.
This goes offsite on tape every day.

Someone is requesting a single file restore from four days ago.

I have the right tape, with the full and all the incrementals from that day. How do I get Veeam to recognise these files without affecting the currently stored files?

Hello, you should use Import Backup command from the main toolbar, and point Veeam Backup to the folder where these backup files reside. Backup will then appear in Veeam Backup UI, and you will be able to restore from it.

So that will just add it as older revisions of the same job?

No, it will create a separate node under Backups for the imported backup. So you can simply delete it after you are done with restoration.
