File Level Restore from a VM Veeam

Post by Personne »

Hi,

My veeam backup server 4.0 is a VM on a Vsphere 4 U1, all my volume are NFS. All backup and restore works.
My issue is with file level restore.

So I had to install VMplayer in my VM veeam backup. VMplayer do not want to run on a VM, so to make it works I have applied

Under Options: Advanced -> General -> Configuration Parameters (button), I made the following changes:
(change) deploymentPlatform from "windows" to "vmkernel"
(add) monitor_control.vt32 = "TRUE"
(add) monitor_control.restrict_backdoor = "TRUE"

Is there something else to do ? VMplayer start, but I do not get anything else

Hello,

Please have a look at this topic that should guide you through basic troubleshooting steps: File Level Restore. Also please be aware that you should be using VMware Player version 2.5 and not 3.0 one.

Thank you.

A bit more settings are required to run VMware Player in a VM:
Running VMware Player in a VM

Also, please remember that for Windows VMs, you can restore directly from Veeam Backup UI (so there is no need to use VMware Player and Multi-OS File Level Restore wizard).
