Files need to restore

Post by robbyde »

Hi,

I backup a bunch of servers using the latest version of Veeam and using a Incremental with synthetic and a transform.

I then backup the VIB'S and VBK files to tape. The question is do I need the VRB files or should I be able to restore servers without these files?

Thanks

Rob

Rob, VRB files are restore points prior to the latest full backup, while VIB files are those after it. Depending on the particular restore point you want to restore from, you need the whole backup chain starting from the corresponding full to that restore point file. I suggest reviewing the user guide section describing backup methods (p.28) for better understanding. Thanks!
