Five min snapshot of nfs server even with storage snapshots

Post by ncolt »

Hi

One of the admins here says his NFS server lost connection for the duration of the snapshot which - according to the VMware logs - was about 5 minutes. It's quite a busy server and a reasonable (1TB) size but if we are using storage snapshots shouldn't the time between the snapshot being created and being removed in VMware be much faster than that?

Thanks

What particular storage array are you using? It's a VMware snapshot that stays open for 5 minutes? Have you already opened a ticket with our support team to let them confirm your environment and make decision regarding the slowest step, based on the logs analysis?

Array is Netapp. VMWare snapshot yes. I haven't opened a ticket as was just seeing if this was expected or not.

Hard to speculate in this regard without seeing the actual logs and infrastructure. So, opening a ticket is preferable option here. Thanks.
