FreeDOS File Level Recovery requires helper appliance?
I understand completely this is a silly ask (and insanely low priority, since I think approximately 0% of users care), but since FreeDOS is using FAT volumes, would it make sense to integrate it into the Windows based FLR option rather than requiring the Linux helper appliance? I recently tried out File Level Recovery for FreeDOS for my blog, and was a bit surprised it required going down the Linux/other wizard path rather than being part of the native Windows one. It still works, and is more than sufficient, but I wonder if skipping the helper appliance would streamline the process.

I'm a bit surprised you had to use a helper appliance, when Windows can mount FAT volumes natively. Did you do this because you had some issue using Windows FLR?

I expect there's some sort of version check in the restore workflow. I have the OS type as MS-DOS, which in vSphere is listed as a subset of Windows, but in the Veeam v10 UI at least, FLR for Windows is grayed out and the only option is Linux/Other FLR.

Ah, this makes sense and actually is a good news: most likely, it is simply filtered out due to the OS type NOT being Windows... should be easy to fix! @Egor Yakovlev could you please investigate this with the UI devs?

Hi Nathan,
Good catch!
Yes, we do have "LIKE %win%" condition with Microsoft Windows file system restore option.
It appears to be filtering out "Microsoft MS-DOS" and "Microsoft Small Business Server 2003" too - we will fix this!
/Thanks!

Fix has been implemented in the code already and with QA's blessing it will be in v11!
