FULL BACKUP fixed size ?
hello,
is it possible to keep the size of a full-backup veeam file ?
I want to keep same file size because I want to backup on Nas and the Nas itself backup to the cloud.
once this file is on cloud, I can backup into incremental files in the Nas and cloud, which does not saturate the internet bandwidth.
what is the best backup pratice for backup to a Nas wich backup itself on a cloud ?
thank you for the feedback of your own experience.

Re: FULL BACKUP fixed size ?
If you need "static" backup files which don't change in size after they are created, then you need to use incremental backup mode with periodic synthetic or active fulls enabled. Thanks!

Re: FULL BACKUP fixed size ?
Veeam doesn't run a merge mid-chain when you have a full scheduled. It will wait until the next full, and then (in your case, +6) restore points, and only THEN can it delete the old VBK and VIBs to hit your restore point target of 7. Then the cycle continues.
Some articles to help explain: (you're running a forward incremental backup type)...

Re: FULL BACKUP fixed size ?
Hello!
No, it's enough to enable just one of them: full or synthetic.
Just keep in mind that full runs consume considerable amount of network bandwidth however synthetics can have a higher IO workload on a backup repository than active fulls.
Thanks!
