Hi all!
I have currently added GFS to our backup schedule and im little confused. If somebody can explain for me to get a better understanding;
On a normal backup job the retention policy was set to 14.
I then added GFS policy (Incremental full backups on Saturday). GFS set to 4 weekly, 12 monthly and 7 yearly.
But i can see in the actual backup folder i have a incremental for everyday in the last month. I would of thought i'd see 14 days of daily retention and a few Full weekly from the GFS?
Sorry if that's not clear but i would love to understand this more.

Re: GFS & Backup Chains
Hi Jonny
You must wait 14-21 days after you have added the gfs policy in your Job. Veeam cannot change older backups to gfs. They stay as the 14 daily restore points.
As soon you have created 14 days of new restore points with the new gfs settings, veeam will be able to remove the oldest 14 restore point.
