We have enabled the GFS (monthly & yearly) earlier in our daily backup job (backup to disk).
Since now we have the tape library for LTR backup, we would like to keep the daily backup in disk and monthly & yearly backup to tape.
When we trying to remove the GFS (monthly & yearly) in the backup job (backup to disk), it prompted a message "Applying new GFS retention policy settings may delete some of the existing GFS restore points. Continue anyway"?
Does the GFS flags will be removed & my previous GFS restore points (backup in disk) will be deleted as well? or the GFS restore point will still wait until the retention expired?
Note: Backup repository is immutable.

Re: GFS Retention Policy
Hello,
The software would try (and fail) to delete all retention points that are not needed anymore (not only remove the GFS flag). Only removing the GFS flag would not save any disk space and also not satisfy your new retention policy.
Best regards,
Hannes
you gave the answer yourself.Note: Backup repository is immutable.
