Hello,
I have a repository added to Veeam.
Repository is a RAID on Server 2019, file system is REFS.
I am using Synthetic full with no active full.
I want to enable monthly GFS backups, but I am not sure if have the space.
I know if I use Synthetic full with ReFS on server 2016 and above there is only one copy of the data with pointers/ reference to chunks of data.
This helps save on storage space. I want to know if GFS with REFS will behave the same way as an active full backup or will it use references to minimize the amount of storage used?
Kind regards,
Darren

Re: GFS with REFS or XFS repo
Hi Darren
GFS fullbackup files (if they are synthetic fulls) will also reference existing blocks on reFS or xfs.
Thanks
Fabian
