got an offert for license renewal - huge increase since 2017
Dear veeam-PM's,
we've purchased a veeam essentials enterprise license in 2015 (valid until 2018), our support ID is [removed by moderator]. If I'm not mistaken, we've purchased 2 sockets back then. Now in 2017 we've extended that contract for another 3 years until 2021 and payed approx. 800 €.
Now we wannted to extend that contract again until 2024 and asked for an offer, combined with a 24/7 promo. Now I know that veeam has extended the socket count up to 6 sockets within the support period for free, so now when we extend we have to consider that. However, comparing the last extention from 2017 with the offer now, I noticed that there's a big increase by a factor of 3-4 times. Isn't that quite big? I know that the product(s) have more and better features, etc. But it's a big leap within a short period of time.
Please let me know if this numbers can be true and if there's something that I'm missing. Also, I would like to mention that I've talked to our CTO and he asked the question if there's an alternative vendor. I don't wannt to change the product but I wannt to provide the arguments, why it's worth to pay the increased price.
Thanks!

Yeah, we're truly the wrong people to comment on sales quotes for good!
However, the 3-4 times increase sounds normal IF I understood you correctly:
1. The difference between renewing 2 sockets and 6 sockets alone is already 3x!
2. On top of that, there was a 15% increase of Socket pricing last year.
Overall, the only Socket MSRP increase we had in the past ~5 years is this 15% increase on Jan 1st 2020. So you can keep this number in mind as a baseline as to what price increase to expect when renewing the same number of sockets. Unless you received any discounts/specials back in 2017, of course.
