Hi,
is there a best practice for creating VM groups in backup jobs?
VM's need to be grouped for the same OS (group Windows Server 2019, group Windows Server 2012, group Linux, ecc), for the same use (group SQL Server, group application server, ecc) or what other method?
thanks

Re: Group VM Backup Job: Best practice?
Hello,
There are no specific recommendations to group VMs by jobs. The priority should be the ease of management: you can use both OS type and running application as a main grouping criteria. For instance, I would make two different big groups for Windows and Linux and create "sub-groups" in every group depending on applications installed on workloads. Also, you may review this thread where we discuss how grouping VMs by OS type can influence dedupe ratio.
Thanks!
