When backing up a VM, there is an option to either select or deselect Guest Quiescence - Enable VMware Tools Quiescence.
1. What are the implications if I deselect this option when backing up VM's?
2. Will backups be successful and will restores be successful as well?
3. Will I have issues with the restored VM if "Guest Quiescence - Enable VMware Tools Quiescence" has been deselected?

Re: Guest Quiescence
Hi Benjamin,
1. Please read through this F.A.Q. section for more info about Guest Quiescence options > Application-Aware Image Processing
2-3. Yes, but your backups will be crash-consistent. If you want to backup your applications inside the Guest OS in consistent state and, for example, truncate logs for SQL Server, then you need to use AAIP (application-aware image processing) for Windows VMs and VMware Tools Quiescence for Linux VMs.
Thanks!
