Hot-Add mode with physical VBR Server
I'm having trouble getting hot-add to work. KB 1054 (Hot Add Requirements) includes the following requirement: VMware Tools must be installed and up-to-date on the Veeam server and any Veeam proxies. I am using a physical Veeam server at the moment,so no Vmware tools, is hot-add supported?

I am using additional proxies which are VMs. Is hot-add supported then?

Provided all other requirements are met, virtual proxies should be able to use hotadd.
Ah, now I see your initial concern. The article mentions that Veeam B&R itself should also have VMware Tools installed. But this is only the case if you're going to use it as a hotadd proxy server as well (by default, Veeam B&R is also assigned a proxy role). If your backup server is physical, you can use other virtual proxies for hotadd just fine.

Re: Hot-Add mode with physical VBR Server
Thank Foggy, that's exactly what I was referring to.
Just one last question, if I test as per https://www.veeam.com/kb1184 and this works OK, I should be able to use hot-add with that VM and proxy? And if it is still falling back to NBD then I should open a case to investigate?
