Dear all
Hi
1-i was read in veeam document about datadomain ( For Dell EMC Data Domain storage systems working over Fibre Channel, you must explicitly define the gateway server that will communicate with Dell EMC Data Domain. As a gateway server, you must use a Microsoft Windows server that is added to the backup infrastructure and has access to Dell EMC Data Domain over Fibre Channel.) now want to know if want send all of backup traffic via HBA is that mandatory install gateway server ? or veeam automatically install that ?
2-can i use veeam backup server as a gateway server or had to install separate vm as gateway server ?

Re: how can install gateway for DataDomain
Hi Babak
1 - The task to send all backup traffic via the HBA is mandatory - and therefore yes - there needs to be a be a gateway server to use DD. This server is really just a role that is placed with the communication to the DD through some of our Windows Services. Don't make it think like it needs to be a dedicated system.
2 - Yes, you can absolutely use the existing Veeam Backup & Replication server system to take the role of mount server. This is similar to how a proxy "role" is built-in to the Veeam server on default installations.
Does that make sense?
