ok
i read that article but the problem is my network adapter1 ip address is : 10.11.21.192 255.255.255.0 10.11.21.1
and network adapter2 ip address is : 10.11.21.200 255.255.255.0 10.11.21.1

but in Network traffic rules when insert ip adress it detect ip adress range for example when in prefered network insert this ip : 10.11.21.200/24 10.11.21.1
when click on ok it show this info : 10.11.21.0 255.255.255.0 10.11.21.0/24

now on this mode backup proxy will not work correctly because it not show specific ip adress and just show ip range
what is the problem?

There is no option for VBR to do what you want out of the box, but it should be possible to tell Windows to route traffic to a specific address via specific interface, have you tried that?

Also what is the reason to have two NICs in the very same network? Do you use some sort of LACP?

Thanks

you say it should be possible to tell Windows to route traffic to a specific address via specific interface where can config this in veeam ??? in veeam i just see can enter ip range and can not use specific ip in previous post i say when insert 10.11.21.200/24 10.11.21.1 it change ip to 10.11.21.0 now how can use specific ip for specific network adapter??

It cannot be done via VBR means, you should configure some custom routing rules using Windows route command.

Not sure if I understand what you mean. If you had two adapters in different network then you would limit the proxy to use the particular adapter with the help of network rules feature. However in your case usage of the network rules won't give you the desired result. That is, you have to setup Windows custom routing as a workaround for this situation.

Could you not use local DNS entries to point the proxy to the destination repo?

Larry,

I'm not sure that I understand how that will help to force traffic via specific NIC in case both NICs are in the same network. Even if you add repo/proxy under different IPs/names the traffic can go via any NIC, unless you configure routes beforehand. Please elaborate.

Sure, I can note that as a feature request, however I'm curious about the reason to have two NICs on the same vlan on the same server?

Thanks

On veeam server
route add proxeyIP mask 255.255.255.255 ip of nic you want to use /p

On proxy use
route add ip of nic you want to use mask 255.255.255.255 proxeyIP

In host file of proxy set veeam server to ip of nic you want to use.

hope that helps

I agree with NIC selection NEEDING to be a feature request for both VBR and Veeam Windows Agent. I recently had an open case for each product about being able to select a NIC but was told the feature does not exist. The set preferred networks only works if the primary network is offline. I have a production 1Gbps LAN and several of my servers that use Windows Agent have direct 10Gbps links to the VBR server that hosts the repositories. If I set the preferred network to the direct link the backups that use the Production LAN fail. I have also tried setting the repository in the Windows Agent to the direct link IP address as well as setting the IP addresses in the host file of the VBR and Windows Agent server. It still does the actual backup on the production LAN. I’d rather not set touring rules in Windows. I really feel this is major limitation of the product. I cannot believe that there is not more of a need for this.
