Hi,
I want to understand how the restore point works for below backup job requirement.
Have last 2 days daily backups, each week full backup (synthetic), each month full backup (synthetic) for 2 months
is this possible via GFS and how to configure this.

Re: How Restore Point Works
Hello Ahmed
Welcome to the forum.
No. With weekly full and a short-term retention of 2 days and weekly GFS for 2 months, you will have at least daily backups for the last 2-9 days .
To be able to restore from the last two days, we need the most recent full backup and all subsequent incremental restore points. We cannot delete incremental restore points older than two days if those are still required for a restore of the last two days. Therefore we keep them until the active backup chain have reach the points where it has 2 days of incremental backups itself. Then the old incremental backups can be deleted.
You can find an explanation in our user guide:

A workaround would be to create synthetic full backups every day or twice a week. In such case, the daily restore point can be deleted earlier. But I personally would keep at least daily backups for a week or two. Just to be able to restore from multiple days instead of only the last 2.
Best,
Fabian
