How to backup a restore point
Is it possible to backup specific restore point instead of exporting it?

Re: How to backup a restore point
Hi Jose and Welcome to Veeam R&D Forums!
Not sure that I'm getting what would you like to achieve? Why do you need to back up a specific restore point?
You may review this section of user guide to get a better idea of the 3-2-1 rule and how backup copy works.
Thanks!

Re: How to backup a restore point
We need to free up space by backing up a couple of our restore points to a Qnap NAS instead of our Nutanix. Once its backed up to our Qnap NAS, we'll delete said restore points.
Furthermore, to save space were looking to backup restore points done annually (say month of Jan). Is it possible to backup specific restore points to a NAS?

Re: How to backup a restore point
A better approach would be to create a backup copy job targeting your NAS with the GFS retention policy you want (Eg: 1 yearly, 12 monthly, 4 weekly, etc) and then change the retention policy on your backup job to be whatever retention you want, corresponding to how much space you have on your primary repository.
If you move backup files manually, you'll have to rescan your repository to make sure Veeam no longer knows about those older restore points. If you move backups that are part of an active backup chain, you'll break things.

Re: How to backup a restore point
Understood. But how about we export a restore point? Is a restore point by itself fully functional in the event that we use it in a disaster recovery?

Hi Jose,
The export feature allows you to synthesize a full backup file using the specific restore points. This synthesized backup will be fully functional in case of a disaster recovery as well.
Thanks!

Thanks for the link. I think exporting will be our best bet for our use case. Thanks everyone for the help.
