How to restore a deleted machine

Post by aria »

Hi. I was backed up daily by Veeam Backup from a Linux machine on ESXI. Some time ago I deleted my Linux machine in ESXI. Now I need to restart the deleted machine.

The Datastore directory in Veeam Backup that I checked still has the folder of that deleted machine with its contents taken by veeam backup, but it is not in the list of esxi machines that I can restore.

Can I recover my deleted machine using Veeam Backup?

Hello,
unfortunately I do not understand what is still available. If the .vbk and .vib files are still there, then you can restore.

There are many ways to do that. The most common ones are the large restore button in the ribbon or via backups in the navigation pane.

I also recommend to check out the quick start guide: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backup/qsg_vsphere/

Best regards,
Hannes

If you cannot see the required VM in the backups section (the screenshot in Hannes' second link), you may need to re-import the backup file: Importing Backups Manually Once the backup has been imported it can be used for restore.
