how to restore vms if Vcenter is down
I use veeam through vcenter to backup all VMs. If vcenter is down, is it any way to restore all VMs?

Hi Eric,
In this case please add ESX(i) hosts as standalone hosts (by IP or their hostname) to the Veeam backup console and proceed with VM restore operation.
Thanks!

Re: how to restore vms if Vcenter is down
I just tried this, and it rejected my attempt to add host 10.0.0.3 because 'the host already exists' (as part of the vcenter 10.0.0.9). I am also unable to remove host 10.0.0.9 to try to re-add 10.0.0.3 because of replication and backup jobs. This is a bit of a nuisance Found another post that said to add the standalone host by DNS name not IP. That worked

Actually, Vitaly also suggested using hostname above basically, you need to use the one that is not known to B&R.

I am replacing vCenter VM now, and got hosts loaded. However, 9.5 is unable to load VM.
I tried following https://helpcenter.veeam.com/backup/70/ ... overy.html Should I need to remove the vCenter that was previous?

Hello Apex and welcome to the community!
Are you trying to perform full VM restore to a standalone host as suggested above?
What kind of error message do you get?
By the way, provided you are on version 9.5, why do you refer to user guide of version 7?

vCenter and recovery
Hi all,
Looking through our current setup, vCenter is used as part of the backup jobs setup. Question: if our entire systems were down and all I had was the VBR server to start restoring from, how can I start a restore if the vCenter VM is also down?
Albert

Re: vCenter and recovery
We have one ESXi host per vCenter using IP addresses (if your DNS are down, hostname resolving won't work anymore). Make sure you have the IPs and credentials somewhere else and not saved on the infrastructure you want to protect.
