how to see size of backup gfs information

Post by jcofin13 »

Is there a simple way to see how much space your GFS backups are using?

For example......if i keep 10 daily and 2 monthys (gfs)......how do i show how much space just my monthy gfs data takes up as a whole on the job?
IM trying to figure out or calculate how big each is because i want to increase it from 2 months to 6 months but i dont want to do that if i cant calcualte how much space it will use and ultimately how much it will cost (when offloaded to capacity tier - aws).

I have looked in vbr but only see the data on a vm basis and i cant find anything like this for reports in veeamone. I must be missing something here.
Is there a simple way to know how much space each one is so i can average a cost. I dont want to just turn it on and "see" only to find out i cant remove it later due to immutabilty and be stuck with a large bill for 12 months.

Hi jcofin13,

You can see it in Backup Properties - Backup Size.
GFS Backups are marked with appropriate flags:
  • W - weekly GFS
  • M - Monthly GFS
  • Y - Yearly GFS
Here is the example:

I hope this is what you're looking for.

Thank you.

nah...that shows each vm and its size. I was hoping to find the over all size of each GFS point so i could estimate how much more space it would use if i changed the value. Say if i could see that my last 3 monthlys were 1tb each....then i know that upping it from 3 months to 6 months would use an estimated 3 more tb.

I have been able to try and estimate this using the veeam calculator online but im not sure how accurate that is with GFS sizings.

I was hoping there was an area in here that you could just see how big each gfs point is consuming.
