Re: Howto restore SQL Table Veeam8
Ilya, what Veeam B&R version are you at? This is possible with SQL AIR Wizard in v7, however starting v8 you should contact technical support to get the compatible version of the tool.

[MERGED] Restoring Exchange 2007 Items and Veeam 8
Hi there,
I have Exchange 2007 running in a VM and Veeam 8 is currently being used to back it up. I am aware that the Exchange Explorer is not compatible with Exchange 2007 and I wondered what the simplest method of restoring individual items from Exchange 2007 is. I can see the U-Air wizard should be able to do it and I have installed the Univeral AIR tool from the Veeam 8 installation media which allows me to build a lab to mimic the production environment and restore from there. In Veeam 7 the Exchange AIR wizard was available but I can't seem to find this in Veeam 8. Is there a way I can restore Exchange 2007 items without having to create a lab etc.
Thanks
Jay

Re: Howto restore SQL Table Veeam8
Hi Jay,
You are right, starting from v8 Veeam doesn`t market AIR wizards in a favor of Veeam Explorer.
However, you can get a v8-compatible application-specific AIR wizard contacting Veeam Support Team or using this link.
If you want to use Veeam Explorer for Exchange, you need to update to a newer version of Microsoft Exchange Server, since Exchange 2007 is not supported.
Thanks.

Thanks very much for your reply. It's handy to know that I can get my hands on the Exchange AIR wizard for Veeam 8. I'll give this a go.

Re: Howto restore SQL Table Veeam8
Can I ask what the process is now for restoring a single DB to a different location as in order to do this I have to restore the whole VM, copied the files to a new VMDK, attached the VMDK to recovery VM and copied files onto the production network for the user, seems a little long winded. Plus all of my support documentation was done using veeam 7 which now doesn't work if followed.

Re: Howto restore SQL Table Veeam8
Sam, have you considered using Veeam Explorer for SQL Server for that purpose?

Re: Howto restore SQL Table Veeam8
Yes I tried first to use Veeam Explorer for SQL but I could not work out the settings for the add database. I used sure restore and the application group to mount the server in the lab but I would not work out how from there how to add it into the SQL explorer. Most likely I am missing something here.
Is there a single KB which show end to end how to restore a single database to both original and new locations?
I really need to sort this out as it means all my support docs for the BAU teams are now out of date when they need to restore SQL db's or do single item exchange restores.
Please help

Re: Howto restore SQL Table Veeam8
Yes I have had a look at that and the part I am missing is how to get a server to browse. I'll raise a support call if needed so you chaps can take a look and show me what I am doing wrong and then I can document is properly.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Howto restore SQL Table Veeam8
If your backup job has application-aware image processing enabled, you can start recovery by right-clicking the backup and selecting corresponding command. Alternatively, you can first use FLR to extract the database file and then add it to Veeam Explorer for SQL Server for browsing.

[MERGED]: Backup & Restore Exchange 2007 with B&R V8
Hi,
we are using Exchange 2007 SP3 and want to backup & restore it with Veeam B&R.
Especially we want to use Application Item Restore for Exchange 2007 SP3.
Can someone please tell me what the best practice for this constellation is?
Thanks
Mario

Hi, Mario, You should open a ticket with our support ticket and request Exchange U-AIR wizard compatible with VB&R v8. Thanks.

[MERGED] SQL Item Level Restore - SQL Explorer
Hi There,
I have used Veeam for many years and I really like the Exchange restore wizard/explorer. I like the fact that you can do a full item level restore from this wizard and it is very easy.
However, the SQL wizard cannot do the same thing. It mounts the backup file then allows you to restore a whole database or nothing. To do anything further you need to setup sure backup, application groups,VpowerNFS etc and get them all working, then request the SQL-Air wizard from support, install and setup that. Then get all this working and test it. Just to restore a table/row from a SQL database.
So, my question is:
Is there a technical reason why we cannot have the same functionality as the Exchange explorer for the SQL explorer?
Is there a plan to change this functionality?
Many thanks!
Chris

Chris, table-level recovery will be included in Veeam Explorer for SQL Server coming with Veeam B&R v9, along with other enhancements. Thanks.

Re: Howto restore SQL Table Veeam8
Thanks for coming back to be foggy. Can you please confirm if it is just table level recovery, or will it also include the query type recovery method as per the SQL-AIR application?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Howto restore SQL Table Veeam8
Just saying that table level recovery feature will be a great addition to the SQL Server recovery explorer wizard.
Just wondering as I am a relatively new customer if I have Veeam 8 and version 9 comes out and my support level is within the timeframe of release would I be eligible to upgrade to B&R v9 when it comes out? (i know this is early)

Yep, if you're on actual support at the time of release, upgrade will be provided free of charge. Thanks.
