HP Storage Snapshots Feature Request
Hello, I'd like to make a feature request.
We're using HP StoreVirtual devices. In addition to using Veeam, we're also using the built-in "HP Remote Snapshots" to create backups from the production HP device to a secondary HP device. Veeam has the ability to backup from storage snapshots on the production device, but I'd like to have the ability to backup from the secondary SAN rather than the production SAN. I used to do this with NetApp and (cough cough) Backup Exec; We'd use SnapVault to send backups to a secondary NetApp device, then use Symantec for tape backups copied from the secondary NetApp. That way all backups created from the production device were incremental-forever, and full backups were always created from the secondary device.
I've never made a feature request before so I hope I'm doing it right. Thanks!

Re: HP Storage Snapshots Feature Request
Steve, in fact this can be achieved even now, if all the VMs residing on the snapshot stored on the secondary device get registered in vSphere. Though, since they are registered each time anew, you'll have a full backup every time.sheath777 wrote:Veeam has the ability to backup from storage snapshots on the production device, but I'd like to have the ability to backup from the secondary SAN rather than the production SAN.
Anyway, thanks for the feedback.

How can this be done? It sounds like a lot of manual intervention, can it be automated and scheduled? That's ok if it's a full backup every time since this would just be for offsite USB backups.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I believe this can be done with PowerCLI, something like that.

I'll check it out. I'd love to see this built into the GUI someday though. I believe it could be done considering all the other cool things that Veeam already does with HP storage in the GUI. Thanks!
