Hello,
I am just starting out with an HPE Storeonce and immutability. I have a catalyst store setup and working with immutability but then it occurred to me. How do I get the files out if I need them?
I can right click on the backup from the veeam console and do a backup copy to another repository and get to it there, but backup/file copy jobs do not seem to work. I am also not seeing a connection setting in the Storeonce console.
So if my veeam console is down I cannot get to the files?

Re: HPE Storeonce copy files
Hi Brandon,
Storeonce and a few other deduplication appliances (Data Domain) use specific libraries for accessing data on the appliance. So in a disaster recovery scenario where the Veeam Backup and Replication server becomes inaccessible, you would spin up another instance, perform a Backup Configuration Restore, and begin recovering data from Veeam.
You could simply add the Storeonce to a fresh Veeam installation and after a rescan, begin restores as well, but for utilizing Storeonce and Data Domain appliances, you would access them with the application typically. Both also have the ability to export SMB/NFS shares, but if I remember correctly there are some nuances with this when the data is in a deduplication volume on these devices.

Re: HPE Storeonce copy files
Thanks,
I am glad that the recovery is not very complicated. I will be sending a support question to HPE on how to access data in DR, I just don't like that quickly looking around that the answer wasnt readily available.
