Huawei plugin, EOL???

Post by Maurotb » 1 person likes this post

Hi,
at 20/4/2022 in this page
https://www.veeam.com/kb4027
i see huawei storage plugin reach EOL at 22/4/2022
I thought it was a mistake, but today I see that it is in EOL and has disappeared from the downloads. Do you have any information?

Hi, all we know is that our executive team has made a decision to cancel Alliance & Technical integration agreements with Huawei. Thanks!

Really absurd to have such an important plugin go to EOL in 2 days, without any communication or explanation.
In 30 years of work this is the first time I have seen such a thing.
I hope that veeam retraces its steps, some companies have made important investments based on this feature.
Thanks for info @Gostev

Hi,
We have a lot of storage hardware using this / storage snapshots via veeam + this plugin. We are very worried that a future Veeam update may now disable this plugin/functionality and make the whole backup workflow unusable.

To be perfectly transparent for your planning purposes, that's exactly the instructions I have received for implementing in V12. There's no intention to disable it in V11 though, so you should be good to continue for the next few years, and hopefully up until your primary storage refresh cycle comes.

Not quite so, having gone into EOL immediately veeam no longer provides support for this plugin.
In fact, i noticed this by opening a ticket for a problem on the storage plugin.
How do I use a plugin that I don't have support for for years?
Also what if after a san firmware update the plugin doesn't work anymore?
It wasn't a good move,i am in serious trouble right now and like me i think many others who still have not noticed this thing since it has not been advertised!

Hi All,
Do you have any new information?
Is it possible to download an older version of the plugin?

Thanks

Hello David,
thanks for the request. The statements made above are all that we can share from the R&D side here.

As the code is owned by Huawei and we do not have a contractual base anymore, we can not distribute the Huawei owned plug-in anymore. Please contact Huawei.
Thanks
