Identify VBK files created using Fast Clone

Post by TimHodges »

Is there a simple way within Windows to tell if a .vbk was created using the ReFS Fast Clone? I would like to be able to identify those vbk files that were created by clients over Cloud Connect via Active Full and therefore are not deduplicated so I know which are taking up more space. I was hoping for a file attribute or property that can be pulled from the file system using Powershell.

Thanks!

Hello,
and welcome to the forums.

The blockstat tool should be able to do that.

Best regards,

Thanks,

I had seen the blockstat tool, but many have noted that it takes a long time to run. I was hoping for just a quick assessment on whether a file was created with dedup or not. I'll give it a shot and see if it will meet the requirements of my project.

Thanks!
