Immediate Copy mode in v10
Hi there,
I'm wondering what would happen if a backup copy job using immediate copy could not keep up with the rate that incrementals are created in a backup job.
Lets say the backup job was set to create incrementals every 15 minutes for 2 hours (8 points) but the backup copy job had some bandwidth limitation. Would the BCJ be forever playing catch up to make an exact mirror of the source files, or would it just copy the latest point?
If the BCJ could only copy one of those source points every hour would it end up with 8 recovery points over 8 hours?
Thanks

Hello,
it will continue to copy all incremental backups. Only the periodic mode uses the latest restore point.
Best regards,
Hannes

Do take note that an RPO monitor was added in v10 in the advanced settings:

Thanks!
So if the immediate backup copy job can't copy restore points offsite at the same frequency the backup job creates points then the copy job will never complete any restore points and will essentially have no restorable data?
I'm just trying to figure out what would happen in a worst case scenario when using this copy mode.

Backup copy job chain will lag behind the source backup job chain until it has the opportunity to catch up (for ex., if no new restore points appear during the weekend). Basically your assumptions in the first post are correct.
