Improve VirtualLab Infrastructure

Post by TobiasF » 1 person likes this post

Hi,

Virtual Labs are nice to test upgrades or restores in isolated environments, but why I have to create a Application Group and a SureBackup for every single Lab?
In most situations I need the lab once, so after I finished the Lab, I have to delete the group and the sure backup job.

Would be easier & faster If it would be possible to create a Lab without these overhead :)

Greetings
Tobias

Hello Tobias,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts – it highly appreciated. Are you using the Sure Backup jobs to test upgrades within a single VM or it’s a group of VMs you are testing?

Hi,

I use SureBackup for creating testing environments.
For example if I plan an upgrade for a Software, I simulate the upgrade in an Lab.
Sometimes, there are more than one virtual server in the job.
For example DNS, DHCP etc.

Actually there is a long workflow for creating a Lab.

1) Creating Application Group
2) Creating SureBackupJob
3) Creating Lab via LabManager
4) Appove Lab via Enterprise Manager

For now, you can already shortcut a bit by using the "Keep the application group running ..." and than just starting the Surebackup job.
