Incremental Backup

Post by Mahir101 »

Hi All
I scheduled to backup my server once in a week full backup and daily incremental backup. However due to storage limitation. Is that possible to restore if i delete the daily incremental backup by just leaving the latest/last incremental and the full backup only. For example if i have Monday, Tuesday and wednsday incremental backups just by leaving the wednsday backup and i delete Monday and Tuesday backups.

Hi Henock, depends on the backup method. If you're talking about forward/forever forward incremental methods, then you need the entire backup chain (full + all subsequent increments) to be able to restore from the latest increment in the chain. If you miss any increment in-between, you would be able to restore to the points prior to it only.
