Indexing volumes mapped to NTFS folders
Hello Veeam Community,
is it possible to index NTFS volumes which are mapped to a NTFS folder, instead of a drive letter?
All files are backed up just fine, but it seems that only drives with an assigned letter are indexed.
Thanks in advance

Re: Indexing volumes mapped to NTFS folders
Hi, Kai,
Are you sure that content of mapped volume is present in backup file? Mapped volumes should be automatically skipped from processing, and not backed up by backup jobs, therefore, the files inside them shouldn't be indexed.
Thanks.

Re: Indexing volumes mapped to NTFS folders
Hello Vladimir,
the mapped volumens are definitely present within the backup.
I checked the guest file restore browser for the volumes and the files inside.
It shows the root folder and the NTFS folders used for mapping - below this view, the volumes are listed as "Volume0", "Volume1", etc.
I'm able to browse these volumes and restore files from them.

Re: Indexing volumes mapped to NTFS folders
Indexing data is retrieved from NTFS MFT table. If these folders are present there, indexing data will be captured.kai.buedel wrote:is it possible to index NTFS volumes which are mapped to a NTFS folder, instead of a drive letter?
In this case I would suggest contacting our technical team, it would help us to understand how you have configured mapping and what data is stored in MFT tables.kai.buedel wrote:All files are backed up just fine, but it seems that only drives with an assigned letter are indexed

Hi Vitaliy,
thanks for further information about the indexing procedure.
I will recheck the backup files and consult technical support if the problem keeps showing.
Thanks!
