Initial replication to removable storage

Post by crazycommando »

Hi. I'm in the process of replicating a clients virtual machines.
The initial replication is going to a network share that I am slowly copying to the DR site.

My replica settings is to 'force thin' but initial replica is thick. Does this sound right? Is this a limitation or am I doing something wrong.

Thanks,
Alexey D.

Cool. Thanks. Any plans to bring this in? Would be very handy.

Nothing is impossible, and I have some ideas around how this can be implemented, but this is not going to be as simple as it was with thick disks. As I explained in the above-referenced topic, thin disks are very special and cannot really exist outside VMFS volume (such as on NTFS formatted USB hard drive)... at least in original format.
