Install Veeam on current Proxy

Post by Zew »

I have a proxy I just deployed at my DR site, in light of some new design choices, can I install Veeam on this system?

Since this is a second Veeam server running replicas for existing VMs at main site, will the primary Veeam server know about this other instance?

Can I migrate Replication jobs the main Veeam server is running to the alternative I wish to setup at the DR site?

Thanks in advance :)

You can, provided the proxy belongs to the Veeam B&R installation running the same patch level. But keep in mind that Veeam B&R instances are not aware of each other so keep the load (i.e. the number of concurrent tasks assigned to this server) under control.

To migrate the replication jobs, create the new ones on the new instance, and map them to the existing replicas.

Alight will give that a shot, great as always Alexander.

Ohh I wanted to install Veea10a on this one.. so I guess I have to upgrade my primary Veeam server to Veeam10a first then?

Yes, otherwise the earlier version won't be able to connect to the Veeam components that server will be running.

Once I install VBR on the proxy at the DR site do I add the VBR on the primary site as a proxy on the DR VBR?

Only if you want to use it as a proxy there. But then keep the load aspect in mind for this server as well.
