Re: Installing Veeam on a Domain Controller?
Thanks!
Out of curiosity: Is it possible to install the Backup Server (without console) on the free Hyper-V 2016 Server (i.e. Server Core)?
The Veeam B&R Console would then have to be installed somewhere else, of course.

No, that's not supported > Backup 2012R2 Core (applies to 2016 version too)

[MERGED] Backup proxies - any Windows VM?
I have inherited a customer with 2 ESXi hosts (with vCenter) - no shared storage and a separate physical Veeam backup server (a workstation with enough storage and RAM). There are 2 Windows 7 backup proxy VMs - one per ESXi host. I want am trying to decommission the Windows 7 VMs and want to move the backup proxies to other VMs.
So my questions is as follows (TL;DR): can veeam backup proxy role be installed on a VM with another funciton, such as a DC, file server or an antivirus server? Will it hinder the performance of the production VMs?
The company is trying to save money not having to pay for extra Windows server licenses or Windows 10 retail licenses.
Couldn't find a clear answer after googling and searching the forums a bit.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Leviu,
Welcome to Veeam Community Forums and thanks for posting!
All of the aforementioned scenarios are possible, however, are not considered as best-practice. Please take a look at the existing comments above for more info.
Thanks

[MERGED] Recommendation of installing Veeam B&R in DC
Is it recommended using Veeam Backup and Replication in a physical Server, which has an Additional Domain controller role.
