I say 1+1=2 :D

Joking aside, what I said on the first page of this topic still remains true:
Gostev wrote:There is no dark magic involved in how we choose who to integrate with.

We are considering the following 3 criteria for future storage integrations:
1. Good snapshot engine.
2. Significant market share for the storage device.
3. Technical and marketing support from the top down by the storage vendor.
For obvious business reasons, we are going after vendors with large market share first...

+1 For the Equalloic intergration here. We are running a new PS6210XS array and are not seeing a major impact from running snapshots. It would really make things better being able to use SAN based snapshots.

[POLL] What is your PRODUCTION storage for virtualization

Quite expectedly, poll results are inline with the market share, leaving those "little guys" no chance to compete with the demand for support of market leading storage vendors...
Could we get a new poll for 2014? That one is over 2 years old and as we all know tech moves fast! It would be interesting to see where things stand now.

I think you may actually find that Dell is more accommodating these days too. They appear to have a bit more direction since the buyback

Good Morning. We would also like to see storage integration with Nimble in a future release of Veeam.

[MERGED] : Feature Request - Storage Snapshots

Post by saintdle »

Hi,

Im not sure if these is the correct board, however working for an IT Solutions provider I install Veeam and Nimble Storage quite a lot.

A great deal of my customers choose Nimble due to the performance over price, compared to NetApp Solutions, however they are disappointed, as with myself, that there is no news on the horizon about Veeam working with Nimble for Storage Snapshots.

Is this something you are going to implement? As I've noticed you've started working with Nimble on certain things Image

I can confirm that Nimble is NOT the next storage vendor we will be integrating with.

I prefer to avoid making announcements like that, especially since I cannot announce yet who IS the next vendor (even though R&D is already underway). However, I am making an exception here, because I have heard (on multiple occasions now) that some Nimble sales folks are spreading rumors claiming they ARE our next integration target. And I really don't want any Veeam customers to end up in a nasty situation due to making a storage purchase decision based on such claims. This is not to say that Nimble makes bad storage from technical perspective, in fact I hear nothing but positive things about them from our joint users.

We have a large number of clients running nimble and veeam, and it would be excellent for integration for snapshots.

I am currently trialling Veeam to replace our current backup solution, although everything appears to be working well, integration with our two Nimble array's would be excellent and definitely put a big tick in the box :!:

Just to add to the above regards to Nimble sales folk spreading rumours, we have been a Nimble customer for over 2 years now in the UK and all we have ever been told from Nimble is that Veeam is a very good solution for backup and recovery.

+1 for Nimble

We have been a Nimble and Veeam customer for 3-4 years, and both companies provide great products. We highly recommend both. Integration would be icing on the cake.

+1 for Nimble.

I am currently using two Nimble Sans (1 for production and 1 for DR) and we backup our production site with Veeam as well as Nimble snapshots. The Veeam plugin would make granular restores so much easier and i feel that the plugin is a must! This would be a huge selling point for Veeam and NImble!

[MERGED] feature request

Post by roelvdw »

I have a feature request about new partnership with storage\server vendor Huawei
Like NetApp has unified storage (NAS/SAN);Huawei has also Unified Storage (NAS/SAN) FC and ISCSCI. The name is OceanStore.
So My question is about partnership with Huawei Storage (OceanStore). Veeam explorer For storage snapshot (Huawei) should Be a Nice request For the future.

Kind regards

Another +1 for Nimble please!

We're due to take delivery of our first Nimble array in the next week or so, ultimately to replace our NetApp arrays. Nimble and Veeam integration would be very useful.

+1 for Nimble here too.

It's a shame to hear they're not the next... hopefully when they have bigger market share they'll finally get the vote. We've had multiple arrays for a while and have been using Veeam for years. We've found both products to be excellent.

Exactly. It's purely a business decision, and market share (which, by the way, is NOT measured by the amount of +1s in this thread) is the most important consideration by far...

Please do the integration with Nimble.

Our company choose Nimble + Veeam as our solution based on the joint seminars and joint sponsored events.
After implementation, I was disappointed that the products are not integration, nor are there plans to integrate them.
