Intel storage system JBOD and HP DL360 g6

Post by frankive »

Is anyone familiar with the Intel JBOD enclosure? JBOD2312S2SP
Will it support Western Digital 4TB red drives?

Was wondering if this could be a chep and good enclosure to be used with an HP DL360 G6 as a backup-target.

Frank,
you should check with Intel about which drives are supported by the jbod.
Looking at its specs, seems a decent product, 12 drives are not so many so do not expect incredible performances, especially with SATA drives, because of the small disk stripe you can create. By being a jbod, the caching will be done by the HP server, the G6 were used to have a P410 controller. If you are going to use it, be sure it also has BBWC protection so you can leverage its caching at best, otherwise even with sata disks it can become your bottleneck.

Hi Frank,

you will use it as a cheaper HP D2600 ? - let me know if it works stable.
