Is it normal that the transfer speed breaks down for minutes
Hello,
after some discussions i get a 2 port network team on my backup server. After starting a job i will reach 1,9 Gbps after 5-7 minutes. (6 VMware Proxys are involved, seperate network for backup). Then the network is stressed for some minutes, but suddenly the tranfer breaks down to some Kbps. I see some activity from the veeamagent on disk (but not a maximum transferspeed) but for some minutes (sometime more than 10) there is nearly no activity on the backup team (or any other ethernet adapter). After some time the transfer will start again and will reach 2Gbps. Is there any verify, that caused the breakdowns ? Or is it a network problem ?
Greetings
Heiko

We are also seeing this, however we are using direct-san with FC HBA's which should be "network-free". No Idea why...
Since V8 we enabled the local datamover registry key since repositories are all local. We stopped seeing network traffic but still notice a high "network" load

Hello Heiko,
What does bottleneck statistics show for this backup job?
Thank you!

Does this breakdown happen when your backup job starts to process the next VM? For example, it starts preparing it for application-aware image processing.

I don't think so,
in this particular Job there are only 2 Vm's, and both start backing up from the beginning...
Maybe in between disks since i also see it in single VM Jobs
Will keep an eye on it this evening and update...

Another thing that I would suggest looking at is a debug log for this job. You can ask assistance from our support team or review it yourself, as there could be some hints on what's happening during these gaps.

Please avoid posting log snippets, as it is described by our forums rules. It's something to do with VSS, though I'm not sure it is related to these breakdowns. Please contact our technical team for further logs investigation.
