Is this usable? Need input please

Post by billb »

Hello all. I inherited a poorly managed network about 4 months ago. Veeam 7.0 is loaded on the Virtual Center VM and backing up to a 4TB external hard drive connected to the physical sever. HELP!! What would be my best options to correct this if needed. Thanks.

Bill-
Without knowing more specifics of the environment I'd say that you are probably best off starting over from scratch and importing the backups into the new server.

As obvious as it sounds, the first step is to verify that the jobs are completing successfully so that you are fine for now, and have time to plan the next moves :)
Then, since version 7.0 is not supported anymore, I'd check the current support status and see if maintenance is active, and from here plan for upgrading to a newer version and a better design. As Clint suggested, you may want to have a dedicated Veeam server that is not running on vCenter, and I'd say also have a repository that is something more reliable than a single external drive.
