Is Veeam (copy job) traffic encypted?
Hi,
Is Veeam traffic from proxy to repository (not on same server) encrypted? If so, which level?
Is Veeam traffic cross repository (copy Job) encrypted? If so, which level?
Both windows and linux repository's.
We are looking at the posibility to eliminate the VPN need and publish the repository server directly to internet. IP filters & proper OS security in place.
Regards,
Bastiaan

Bastiaan, currently traffic between Veeam agents is not encrypted, so it is recommended to have VPN if you are backing up/replicating over Internet.

Re: Is Veeam (copy job) traffic encypted?
Ok. Our reasons are:
- VPN overhead. We have large bandwidth, and encrypting this traffic puts a strain on the firewalls.
- We want te setup a many to one, delivering Veeam repository as a service for our customers. VPN makes it harder to configure each customer, IP overlaps, VPN boxes, customer knowledge ext...
- A lot of VPN's makes more stuf to configure, manage and monitor.

Thanks for the feedback and especially for describing the particular reasons why you want this functionality, much appreciated.
