Issues restoring from EM to one SQL server

Post by michaelryancook »

Hello and TIA. I have opened a ticket with support but we seem to be running out of areas to look at. The issue is that from EM we are able to restore to any SQL server when we are logged into EM with a domain admin that has the portal administrator role. However when logged in as a user with the restore operator role we are unable to restore to one particular server. This server is listed in the role's restore scope. However restoring to this same SQL server in the B&R console does work.

So in summary, the domain admin account can restore to all SQL servers from both EM and the console. Whereas other accounts can restore to all servers from the console but cannot restore to one particular server from EM.

Any ideas? The error EM is "Database restore failed: The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect"

The ticket # for this case is 01883799.

To add to the issue, it is now failing with the one account it had been working with. There are a number of iSCSIPrt (event id 1 and 70) and MSiSCSI (eventid 113) warnings and errors during the attempted restore before it fails. It appears to be trying to connect to itself on an APIPA address (169.254.x.x) via iSCSI on port 3260 but failing.

FWIW I see the exact same errors and warnings on the ones it does work on.
