Job Query

Post by stiggr »

I have a question...

I want to configure my backup server so that every VM gets 7 days backup for DR purposes, but a subset of machines get archive backups ie weekies, Monthies, yearlys etc.

So the first one seems simple, configure a backup at the Cluster level and set it for 7 days. But how do I set up Veeam only create backups for these machines for the weekly, monthly, and yearly backups?

Any hints?

Hi Stigger

You need a second job to have other retention settings.
I recommend creating a backup copy job (periodic) for this VMs and let it run once a week with configured GFS settings for weekly, monthly and yearly backups.

Please also consider having a backup copy of the other VMs. If your primary storage has issues, you lose everything.

Thanks

I have another remote site that I copy backups between so we're covered for that, Could I use VMware TAGS to pickup the "Archive" backups...

Yes, you can use VMware Tags for periodic backup copy jobs.
