Let's talk about Encryption verifying (Cloud Connect)

Post by Ennio »

We have a feature request from many customers for Veeam Backup & Replication which are using also Cloud Connect.
At the moment our customers can't check the Encryption Key on a easy and fast way.

Ways to check the encryption key:

a) Delete the service Provider (production side) and add the same provider, create the same backup copy job. (Data on our side would be archived, in my opinion not an user friendly way.)
b) Set up a new installation (test enviroment) and try to connect to the service provider with the credentials from the production side. Also not that user friendly.

Please see this as a feature request, and to discuss future ways to check the credentials.

It would be great if the customer could check the encryption key on an easier way than now.

Best Regards

Ennio, both ways are possible, however there's no need to delete the entire SP in the first case, it's enough just to use "Remove from backups" command under the Backups node and then perform repository rescan. Imported backups will appear under the Encrypted node and the customer would need to specify the key to unlock them.

Thanks for the feedback, though. I'd also mention that we have a dedicated private forum for service providers, where this topic will be moved soon. So please apply to Veeam Cloud Providers group using User Control Panel to be able to follow it and participate in other related discussions.
