License vs Support expiration
This may be a stupid question but here it goes...
We are currently using Veeam Backup & Replication 7.0 Patch 4. Our support expires tomorrow but we have already renewed the support about a month ago. When I check out the License information from Veeam B&R I get the following information:
Status: Valid (3286 days until expiration)
License type: Full License
Support expiration date: 15/04/2015 (1 days left)
So this means that the license which licenses the actual full product has 3286 days until expiration, but it is only the support which will expire tomorrow. Right? So technically no need to install any new license files for the full product to keep working?
Also, I have new license files since we recently renewed the support on this product. Do I need to install them or will it not make any difference?
Thanks!

Re: License vs Support expiration
While keeping old license key on the backup server will not prevent you from doing backups, the updated key (with a proper support period) will allow you to open support cases with our technical team as well receive product updates for your installation. Thanks!

Re: License vs Support expiration
I have just installed the new license key...but the information now says:
Status: Expired (3626 days until expiration)
License type: Full License
Support expiration date: 15/04/2018 (1097 days left)
Why is the status now expired??

Does not seem right to me. If you open the new license key in a notepad what dates do you see?

Can you re-open Veeam backup console and re-check license key again?

License keys are assigned to the hosts when you start backing up data from them. Once you do this, all your source hosts will be marked as licensed.

Ok that's fine. But still I don't know why Veeam is being marked as expired...I simply installed the new license file that's it.Vitaliy S. wrote:License keys are assigned to the hosts when you start backing up data from them. Once you do this, all your source hosts will be marked as licensed.

Re: License vs Support expiration
Did you re-open the backup console, as I have advised above? If the license key is still marked expired after that and you cannot run backup jobs, please install the old key and ask our support team to verify the key you've been given by our sales rep.

Yes like I mentioned I reopened the backup console. The license key is marked expired. I already went ahead and re installed the old license key.

Re: License vs Support expiration
I found the issue. The license key file sent to me by my sales rep was for version 8.x

Oh... nice catch. Any reason why you're still not using version 8?

[MERGED] About Veeam License Infomation
Hi All.
I have a question.
There is a menu called License Infomation in the Veeam console.
1. Expiration Date and Support Expiration Date. Explain what each is.
2. Expiration Date: 2028-02-01 (3614 days left)
Suuport Expiration Date: 2019-01-30 (324 days left)
Why is the date different?
3. How can Expiration Date be permanent?
Thanks All.

Re: About Veeam License Infomation
Hi HyungKyu,
The first date refers to the license key expiration. It is set to 10 years since you're using perpetual license key, this date can be always extended if you need that. The second date shows your active maintenance period which allows you to open tickets with our support team (according to the defined SLA) and upgrade to all new major versions free of charge. Please review existing discussion for other clarifications.
Do not hesitate to ask additional questions for the sake of clarification. Thanks!
