I read the FAQs but just to be clear on a few things, if you have 3+ hosts in an vSphere HA environment (all VMs are shared/distributed across the 3 hosts), and each host in this environment has 2 sockets and multiple cores, do you need a license for each host or just one for the entire environment? If you install the software on a VM in this type of environment is it using the virtual hardware allocated as its socket licensing (example: Win2k8 VM has 1 socket, 4 cores)?
I'm assuming this is more straightforward with a single-host environment: 1 license per single ESXi host with 2 sockets and multiple cores, correct? (we have other virtualized datacenters that do not use shared storage and are hosted on a single ESXi host)

Re: Licensing clarity
In this case, 3+ hosts will be considered as a source for backup/replication job, so, you will have to have a license that covers all of them (3*2 sockets). Thanks.

Re: Licensing clarity
Thanks. Ok, so Veeam Backup Essentials shows a price of $750 (Enterprise) on the pricing page of the site. In this case, the total cost would be 750*6 ?

Re: Licensing clarity
The Essentials license can be scaled out to the six sockets. So, your math seems to be correct –
The prices of Essentials bundle should be multiplied with the number of bundles you need.
Thanks.

Re: Licensing clarity
Andrew, you would need 3 Veeam Essentials bundles (2 CPU sockets each), for exact pricing you'd better contact your sales rep. Thanks.
